Which Plastic Niner?

Post by Lokvo » 19 Jul 2017, 9:49 am

Hey guys,

It's still a ways away (10 months or so) before I can buy another pistol following that ridiculous 12 month period limitation.

I'm weirdly wanting to see what all the fuss is about with regards to polymer pistols. I've pretty much got it down to two options;

Sig Sauer P320 or the Glock 17A / 34 (either way)...

My question is to fellow member's out there that have either of these pistols to please let me know of your experiences regarding either :D to hopefully make up my mind.

As of now I am leaning heavily towards the P320 due to the following out of box features over the glock; Better trigger, better sights, easier field strip (moot point) and modularity.

I vote neither of the above....Check out the Walther Q5 Match. I have one and personally believe it to feel much better then the other choices and it's very accurate.

Around the $1800 mark but possibly can be found for less if you shop around.

Hi

I was new to competitive pistol shooting late 2015. I bought a Walther PPQ M2 22 and used it since then. I am greatly impressed by its accuracy, function and quality. Not wanting to go all out expense wise initially into 9mm territory this was a good starting point.

This year I stepped up to 9mm. Walther PPQ M2 was what I wanted initially but price limited me and I ended buying an almost new second hand Gen 4 Glock 34 with some extras with it for a really good price.

The Glock does not have the quality of the Walther but I'm getting good results with it for IPSC.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Walther PPQ or Q5.

Thanks holstered, good bit of info mate. Have you shot the PPQ M2 in 9mm? Recoil/jump-wise, which of either the G34 or PPQ is easier to get back on target for follow up shots?

Hi

Sorry haven't shot the 9mm PPQ. Can only suggest to try both personally if fellow shooters have them available for you.

I'm still adjusting to the G34 but seem to be doing OK.

Only thing I have to say is to match the gun to the diciplines you shoot. Not Mitch point buying a gun that's not eligible for the matches in which you want to compete. IPSC production for example or Service class 1 for example

if the choice is the sig 320 or the glock go with the glock you will find that you can find them a lot cheep since the 320 became the new u.s side arm.
glock has a loyal group of shooter and are well made

I'm being swayed to the darkside in favour of the walther PPQ (M2 or q5 match), from my research I get the impression it is very much highly regarded and yet under appreciated in mainstream circles, with fan favourites; glock, sig being the more ubiquitous.
