Pistol Options

Post by chewbacca » 15 Sep 2017, 4:47 pm

Looks like I am limited to min barrel lengths for 9mm's

Hence I am looking at the Beretta 92FS and/or the Glock 17A and/or Beretta 92A1

Any feedback on either of the above options?

Have you tried either? Plenty of options out there for 9mm. Try as many as you can at a range. Most people dont mind letting you to try theirs, that is about the main way you will get a proper feel for them.
Check some out in store that suit your competition needs and comfort, if possible keep an eye out for people that own one to ask for a test fire.

Barretta and Glock are both reasonable choices and I've got a few of each but depending on what type of shooting you're looking to do then don't rule out the CZ range of handguns.

Horses for courses. I love my Sig P226, it feels right in my hand and I shoot well with it. Glocks don't feel right for me. Some people at my range scoff at my Sig like I am pointing a dried dog turd down range. I am also loving my FN FiveSeveN and that certainly divides opinion! Get something you like, you could get the 'best' and just not enjoy it.

I love the CZ clones, and the Browning Hi-Power.
My IPSC pistol was the Tanfoglio P19 Combat. I don't recall ever having any jams or misfires.

Dad had a Beretta 92, older brother now has it, nice gun as I recall, nothing stands out in my mind as particularly good or bad. Same thing for Glock, I shot a friends Glock a good number of years ago, I understand that they've improved the trigger with each succeeding generation which is the main thing I recall about his Glock. As someone used to a 1911's trigger the Beretta and Glock both come, or came, up lacking.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."

I would look at a CZ.. I have a 1911 and a Shadow 2 and the shadow 2 is just betterer.

It makes me look like a good shooter.
