States and the mag limits imposed

Post by Conallin24 » 08 Jan 2018, 4:03 pm

Hi guys I shoot in Vic where magizines (ones that are removable) are limited to 10 rounds. I just saw a 17 round mag for a Glock being sold in Queensland on a shooting page on facebook. Was this a security or non target shooter only item as it is here or does Queensland (and perhaps others) allow mags of any sizes? Thanks, Campbell.

G'day Campbell,
10 rounds is a National standard for sporting shooters, any high capacity mags are for security or collectors, Cheers.

And Primary Producers. Not that i really need more than ten for most rifles. Would be nice on the 22. :)

Another shooter at the Sydney International Shooting Centre told me I can only load 5 rounds in the 10 round magazines when shooting pistols. Is he right or just a 'range policy'?

G'day bullzeye,
It isn't a legal requirement so it maybe a specific policy of that range, bit odd when revolvers load 6 though? Or do they want cylinders to close on an empty chamber? Cheers.

There is an IPSC permit in Victoria that lets you own and use 30 round magazines.

Join IPSC club

Spend most of your weekends trying to find time to shoot

Spend money of other useless s**t

Apply for permit

Have 30 round magazines.

Loose motivation to go

Loose permit

ATF sorry I mean ASIO kills your Pupper.

Be sad.

Loose license

Look for other hobbies

Nothing is as good as a shooting

Be more sad.

Not for handguns. If you shoot IPSC rifle you can get a permit for a 30 round mag but for pistols it is 10 rounds just like every other state.
