Ear protection help

Post by Pk58 » 29 Mar 2018, 11:39 am

Hi new to club shooting and don’t want to go out and buy ear protection that might not suit .
When I purchase them I want to get the right pair first up.
Not get told you should have spent more and got these.
I will be shooting a Glock at practical shooting club What should I buy?
Any help will be much appreciated

Being a old fart the hearing is probably not the best. Is it best to get something like this, which I understand makes spoken voice a bit clearer. Howard Leight Impact Pro Ear Muffs $130

Any quality class 5 . But the electronic muffs will allow you to hold a normal conversation. They have an amplifier to allow you to hear normal conversation but cut off all noise above 85db. So you get the best of both worlds. But decent ones are not cheap. BTW Howard make good muffs.

Even the Cheaper $70 Electronic are not to bad obviously not at the top end but do work. I have 3 pair of those for when the wife and daughter come to the range and a set of Tac sport 500 Peltior a bit bigger so check position need to be modified a bit. I at least feel me hearing is not taking a battering any more. A fair bit gone so want to keep the rest of it.

I have peltor sportTac electronics that are great. I even wear plugs under but turn volume right up when at the range. Can also be handy if out hunting to assist in picking up noise you otherwise won't hear
