Snow Chains won't fit the new wheels and tyres...... BUGGER!

G'Day Fella's,

I as hoping to get away over the Snowies and into Victoria, for a bit of a trip away (Sambar).
So being the responsible person I am, I thought I should confirm my almost new but old Konig #260 Polar, Snow/Mud chains (for 7.50 x 16"), fit my new wheels/tyres (31-10.5 x 15")....... unfortunately, No (Konig recommend #255).

So to cut a long story a bit shorter, I added some links of 1/4" Herc Alloy chain to the existing wheel chains and Bingo, it looks like I fixed it.

Here's the two sets of 4 x addition links. One ready for crimping back together and the other already Hot Glued in place

Here are the chains in place on my spare wheel, with a bit of red paint on the bits I need to find when fitting.

Hope that helps

D'oh!

Maybe so Bigfellascott, but at $450.00 ish for a new set of Konig #255's, this was not only a quicker but a cheaper option.

Good fix Homer, chains are chains and chain is cheap for the modification.
