How far is a speed cameras range?

Post by Deco » 17 Mar 2014, 7:37 am

So I think I may have got a speeding ticket from one of the mobile boys in blue...

Just crept a little over going with the flow of traffic and saw them at a distance zapping people with the speed gun.

Anyone know how far the range of the speed cameras?

Pretty sure if you can see them then can ping you.

I know a few folks who have gotten tickets from portable speed camera setups and not even noticed the guys were there.

I can tell you they definitely have a range of at least 125.3 metres.

Question...Can a higher velocity speed camera (that has a flatter trajectory) ping you from further away?
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

According to a camera operator they have 2 to 3 km range.

As stated above "if they can see you, your gone".

I can not attest to the validity of the information, ( he is an ex copper and a bit of a now it all).
I offer this info as a piece of trivia. :D
