I want to do valve shims soon, and replace the valve cover gasket.
There's a bit of oil around the transmission which might indicate a rear main seal failure, but could also just have leaked down from the top.
Rear main requires pulling the engine though so I'll clean it up, make sure there are no obvious leaks, and keep an eye on it.
If I have to pull the engine to replace the seal I'll want to rebuild the engine while it's out.
I replaced the rear main seal in my 253 HiLux, very easy those as they're just a two-piece waxed cord seal, just drop the sump, loosen the main bolts and feed the seal into the groove.
The rupture is at the bottom of the LHS heater hose, about the lowest point of the cooling system in the block.
We knew the hose had popped, as did the mechanic.
