Custom license plates

Post by RealNick » 13 Mar 2015, 8:16 am

Probably going to step on a few toes with this one

Noticing heaps of these lately where people have gone with literally what the car is.

(Making these up) Black Lexus with BLK-LEX. Blue GTS Holden with BLU-GTS. etc.

Who are these people paying $700 and something a year to write the colour of their car on it :unknown:

Pointless rant over

In Qld its a pay once arrangement and the combination is yours for life, not that i'm saying that makes the initial purchase more warranted. I had a heavily modified XR6 Turbo ute that was blue with the plates BLU333. I think they cost me approx $350 years ago.

Did I need them? no.
Did I like them? yeah a fair bit.
Would I buy another set? nah probs not, if i was to buy another car (currently have a work vehicle) i'd just make sure it was blue

But each to there own, obviously just like when you see some one who covers there rifle in ridiculous "tacticool" crap which has no purpose what so ever when they just sit at a bench weekend after weekend.

Another one which cracks me up is when you see 7615/7600 covered in absolute garbage, rails everywhere, red laser, green laser, hop up sights, red dot scope and monstrous handles on the pump like they have to pump some 100mm cannon. Ask them how much it weighs and how it is to carry on a hunt and they look at you in bewilderment.

The downside is, that when you come running out of the bank with the loot, and jump into your BLK-LEX, the witnesses can really give the Police something to go on.

Lol. If you rob a bank and use your own car as a getaway vehicle you deserve to get caught.

Too expensive and they make your car easier to remember, I personally do not want to stand out in the crowd.

I didn't actually look before posting this but maybe it has changed here also. In the past I'm sure it was annual, not it appears once off too.

That's not as bad then. Paying every year though is for chumps IMO.

Been a few years since I live in NSW but it was annual there too.

Even for the colour of a plate if I remember right.

I think it was about $70. And not just to get a replacement plate printed in the new colour which would have been fair enough.

$70 a year once you had them to keep the colour

I have alway laughed .... with derision ..... at the drivers who find it necessary to either put their own name on the plate.... or the vehicle model. maybe they either need assistance at remembering which car is theirs, or what model it is

Must admit. I call them 'Wanker Plates'.

Why in he hell would you give the Government more money than you need to when registering a vehicle.

Other than the fact that you are a total Wanker and want to show everybody just that. Either that or you have money to burn.

Cheers

Not where I'd spend my money but to each his own.

Some people really like pouring it into their car.
