Things you've found on the road

Post by bigfellascott » 27 Sep 2016, 9:25 pm

I thought this might be an interesting thread to see what people have found on the road or beside the road whilst driving.

For me I found:

1 Brand spanking new Blower Vac (never had any petrol in it ever!)
3 or 4 knives which I'm still using to this day
Screwdrivers
Sockets
Chainsaw Bar Cover (lost that bastard since) :D
Camera Case (no Camera)
Backpack (in great condition) and still use it for my whistling trips
Some chain and hooks etc (use those for hauling trees)
Tin Snips
Spare Tyre for a Toyota Landcruiser (was still in very good condition) gave that to a fell a knew who owned one.

That's about all I can remember at the moment but no doubt there is more

So what little gems have you find in your travels?

My mate once found a VCR, said it fell outta the back of a truck :)
All I've ever found is the odd spanner or screwdriver...

Like bentaz I've found a few bales. Any that were stenciled I tracked down the owner, including one SUP F AAAM LMS worth a small fortune, but 2 were unmarked and no one came forward so they were beer money. Brand new sledgehammer, chains and dogs, various other tools, a good hat I still have, the odd truck spare both spider and 10 stud, an empty esky but still had ice just north of Roma, still wonder about that.

Ratchet straps, mostly in good condition. Some still with the strapping tape around them.

A mate of mine was always turing up with some very nice and more often than not .... very expensive stuff.

'Apparently', things fell from the 'back of trucks' A LOT in his area.

I've found lots of sundry stuff over the years, that don't really rate mentioning.

But just recently I heard a guy talking to staff at a Car Dealers about what he "found" on the road.
Apparently he was driving home in the middle of the night in his "new" car.
He came up over a crest, and saw something straddling the road, but didn't have time to react.

It was a Hi Lift jack.
Apparently it almost ripped his gearbox clean out.
What a Bummer,,,,,,,,
