What do you guys recommend for a new winch setup?

A rolling fairlead or hawse for running the cable through?

I'd use a Rolling fairlead for FSWR and a Hawse for Dyneema rope.

Roller for steel, hawse for synthetic.

Synthetic through a roller will get pinched by edged and get nibbled until *snap*

Was just thinking in general.

But yeah, it's gone on to be answered for both :)

Think you'll find just about all of them come with the one that suits them anyway.

This is true.

Just for a point of interest there are some industrial winches that are designed together and use synthetic rope and fairlead rollers.

I couldn't tell you a brand or much about it. I've just seen a few in passing. I suspect the much higher gauge rope is a factor in this.

Something to look up if it interests you.
