Fast easy knife sharpener

Post by Roo farmer » 17 Jan 2019, 5:43 pm

I have been using an Accusharp drag through knife sharpener for my roo dressing knives, and it's okay.

Anyone know of anything cheaper/faster/easier?

I don't want anything fancy or complicated. Has to be quick, easy, and effective.

Mate just out of curiosity how do those Accusharp sharpeners go?
Have seen them on special at a particular dealer for quite some time.
If they work ok I am not sure that there is anything quicker out there. A stone is better no doubt but as we both know, not a speedy tool.

How sharp does the Accusharp make the knives?

If it does a good job of making the knife very sharp, you may just need a honing steel to run your blade on every now and again while you're dressing, and eventually use your Accusharp once you lose the edge.

The Accusharp sharpeners are okay. They don't get it super sharp, but sharp enough to do the job. The one I have is worn out on the second side of the blades, and I will get another exactly the same, unless there is something that is better but still quick.

Can't remember the brand of this one and I don't use it on my good knives but it's excellent for putting a quick edge on shears and scissors and hatchets and such.
I got it a Magnet Mart about 15yrs ago.
