GPS and EPIRB sorted

Thought I would post a pic of what I bought with my tax return . Long time on my wish list. Garmin Rhino 650 ( 80 channel UHF and GPS with Aust topo maps ) and rescueMe EPIRB ( no subscription required )

I'm one happy camper and peace of mind for the better half ( she worries too much, bless her )

For the gps / UHF was $599 and the emergency beacon was $ 389. Both from Moroka 30 in Carrum Downs , Vic

Hopefully not sharing anything sensitive here because it's been said by them elsewhere, Warrigul had a mate die after a broken arm wasn't splinted properly while out and a clot killed him on the way to hospital.

Chronos knew a fella who broke his ankle walking on some rocks and also died from a clot.

You don't have to fall off some huge cliff for things to go wrong

It hurts but what else do you do.

I've been putting off getting one but really need to. Must buy one before the next trip.

My local spot is about 25 minute drive from cell reception and an hour from the nearest town.

Who knows what else happens if you slip and break you leg. Lose your keys in the process, break your phone, whatever else.

I don't fancy crawling that far for help if it's needed.

No doubt there are cheaper version on the market. Hopefully it won't be outdated to soon. So if I get ten years out of it, $ 39 a year. But let's hope it never gets used
