If he carries half this gear he won't need a GPS. Will be worn out after 1km. Lol

Absolutely. Been down that route before.

Indeed, but listing the contents of a first aid kit will require another thread of it's own :-)
I carry a fairly comprehensive kit.

99% of people carry way too much in their kits. Stuff to stop bleeding and pain and a compression bandage is all most people have the training to use anyway. Add some electrolytes and you're pretty set in a day pack.

OldBloke;
You are wrong.
I'm not gonna carry every single item on that list.
That list is just a general complete list of what people can consider carrying with them when going hunting.
I clearly wrote that people can pick and choose from that list to come up with their own list.
(Based on what they deem to be most suitable/most necessary for them)
I think I'm gonna carry one third of the items on the list.
If that.
Even if I were to carry a bit more
(Even if I were to)
It would be okay
Because I have two friends tagging along with me for my 1st few hikes/hunts.
(Who can easily help me carry some of those items)
You misinterpreted the thread.

Small emergency torches carried on afternoon hunts should be LED to do away with the need for carrying spare bulbs which can be so easily lost or damaged esp in the dark .... It’s handy if your small emergency torch takes the same size batteries as you gps

Blr243;
Thank you for the recommendation
Yeah
My GPS takes AA batteries
So I'll try to keep everything the same
It'd be annoying having to carry multiple different types of spare batteries
It's a lot easier if everything just uses the same batteries
A lot more practical for sure
:thumbsup:
Thanks for the LED recommendation though
I didn't think of that
LED would be lot better
Naturally
That's awesome
:thumbsup:

If it has not been mentioned before blaze camo jacket/ shirt or at least A blaze orange cap. So u are identified as a human in case “mr trigger happy no think“ Is in your vicinity ....and if you get lucky with a twelve point stag, and are carrying out his head. It should be carried up side down , because live stags don’t walk Upside down

Don’t think it’s been mentioned - I always have a fox whistle around my neck anytime I am out in the bush. Particularly as you are in stealth mode when hiking. Stop every time you have a likely area in front of you and work the whistle for 10 minutes or so. If you are in the right spot you will be surprised how often a fox shows up.

A short blow test on the whistle every two hours doesn’t hurt ...I lowered the bolt once, got ready to start calling and my bloody whistle is clogged with dried mud , Then begins the frantic attempt to clear it without to much movement that may scare the fox away
