Any good powered sites within an hour of melbourne to go camping with dogs?

(Ignore current covid restrictions for the purpose of this topic)

Only if you byo power.
Dogs are allowed in state forests in Victoria, but there are sometimes caveats to consider, depending where you go.
For example 1080 baiting, bounties on wild dogs, ticks, mange, just things you should be aware of.
Plus they do tend to pick up trails and run away. Often forever.
Short answer is yes you can camp with dogs in (most) state forests in Victoria.
Tracking collars, preferably Garmin a good investment.

Within an hour of Melbourne ..
Yes there are places you can reach in that time frame more or less. Probably not take the 308 though.
You will be sharing those areas with families camping, bush walkers, school kids on hikes, lunatics in 4wds, lunatics on trail bikes, bush raves with lunatics on drugs, escaped convicts sometimes, Chinese people gathering mushrooms and whatever other weird crap they eat, lunatics on drugs gathering mushrooms because they’ve run out of drugs, black panthers, giant rutting pissed off Sambar, bogans doing skids, ninjas, snakes lots of snakes.

Enjoy.
No go further out and keep your dogs under control.

Don't know about powered campsites that are dog friendly, however many caravan parks (obviously have powered sites) these days are dog friendly, with restrictions (eg. on leash at all times etc).

There may be some private campgrounds around that are powered and dog friendly, but actual powered camp sites as such are few and far between.

Okay so let's change the topic to unpowered because I do have generators/inverters.

Mainly looking for names/locations of places recommended which are dog friendly.

Thanks in advance :)

The further you can get out the better - from my perspective and in my area - easily accessible places are over used by all manner of ppl (including those already mentioned - many undesirables)...it’s very easy to get into unwanted arguments at the moment, ppl seem to be very emotional and edgy.

2 apps for your phone you will like
WikiCamps
MoreToExplore

Uselfull website, findacamp.com.au

If you want to pm me what side of the city you’re on I can recommend nice campsites not far. But be aware that the best spots are popular. But if you can get out on a Monday you often get the leftover firewood that wasn’t finished on the weekends.
If you’re looking to check the sights on your 308 I guarantee you will meet the ranger.
If you’re on the other side of town to eagle park there’s a range just outside of Kyneton dose’nt take long to get there.

High viz vests for dogs also prudent, forgot to mention earlier.
