My wife and I are going, not shopping just looking and say g'day from a few stall holders I haven't seen in a while.

In 2012 I found prices there were equal to or higher than regular LGS prices so it's just a good chance to see/handle stuff your LGS doesn't carry

You are right about the prices Chronos. I didnt snag any bargins at the last one in 2012.Managed to purchase the same lockable gun case $40.00 cheaper in dealer land. I guess its good to check out the new stuff and see what is going on out there. It aint Vegas

There may well be some "show specials" from some stall holders, old or superseded stock is often used to get buyers into their stand, particularly late Sunday afternoon as they realise how much stuff they have to pack back in the truck and restock st the store or warehouse.

It's good to go hold a few rifles , marry I some clothing brands you don't see very often or findle some euro glass you'll never buy  a mate and I played with the Leica or swaro range finding binos last time then found out they're were worth more than $3k.

I went to the Melbourne one and it's all pretty good.

Some good deals around, a few close-to-ebay prices.

All the major brands had big stands there and knowledgeable reps to talk to.
300 Win Mag Tikka T3 Lite.
4-12x42 Zeiss Terra.

I was real impressed with the Remington rep.

Heaps of good info on their rifles, calibre choices and ranges for shooting.

Tonnes of good advice, and I don't even have a Remington

Oh and I got my Elite 6500 at the show too from the Tasco stand.

It was about $80 cheaper than any local or ebay price at the time.

Going Saturday. Prepared to deal with the wrath of the wife for ditching her on Sunday.

It's on!

The Abela's stand was pretty huge at the Melbourne one. They have a Sydney store too so I'm sure they'll be there.

It was good just to no-nonsense feedback from a change.

He was more than happy to say when one of his rifles definitely wasn't the best option. Also happy to say where some weaknesses were but where the same rifles excelled.

How many times have you seen/heard/got advice where you ask about half a dozen things and they're all "good". Nothing to actually help you make a decision. Useless.

So yeah. Pat on the back to him for giving good service.

you're right of course, that's something all industries need more of. " you know you should have a look at our "X" model rifle, but also go around to the "Y" stand and compare it to their "W" model

I hope you all enjoy the Shot Show, sounds like a great day but too far for this little duck.

As for Remington I would say the Rep would be treading very carefully these days, far too many bad vibes have been happening with Remington to say they are selling a quality item of high accuracy and reliability.

Gee, what next is going to be recalled in their tens of thousands that has been a fault for many years. Not good.

Hang on, I own a Remington 700. Hmm, well the round shiny bit in the middle called a Remington Action. Very modified and certainly doesn't have a Remington Trigger... ;) ;)

come on Apollo, its not that far to drive ;-) Hope to see you at Mudgee at least?

Anyone know if there will be special prices on firearms at the show? none of the adds have mentioned that so far? I've got a wallet bulging with PTA papers ;-)

I'm saving myself, plus funds. Two trips planned as long as I can manage not to provoke injuries. Mudgee in mid August then about a week later a 300 & 500m Fly Shoot in Wagga for three days. I'll be stuffed for the rest of the year.

Yep, if not before I'll see you at the Mudgee shoot.
