G'day fellow hunters and anglers

Post by North East » 15 Oct 2014, 7:15 pm

Just joined this forum. I've been shooting for about 30 years, mainly the .30 cals. My main battle gun is a .30-06 which covers everything up here in N/E Vic. Do a fair bit of fly fishing in the local rivers as well over summer…just waiting for the waters to warm up and the trout to get a bit more active, still plenty of snow melt coming down.

Good to see like minded shooters.

Not this winter, had a knee reconstruction. That's what happens when an old fart like me keeps on playing basketball against 20 y/olds.

Should be right soon though. It's still cold up here and the big brown cows are still around…usually on the roads at night…getting into the green grass on the edge of the road. They are a menace at night.

Yep…I have to start hunting smarter…sniping close to wallows and game trails. I hate it when everything in your body aches, after a long walk through the bush. I can still shoot straight though and the old .30-06 is as reliable as ever…still kicks a bit though.

Sounds like you need a bit of .375 H+H Mag therapy.

I've got 2 knees that are on their way out, it certainly limits what you can do hey. I've heard people say that the Sambar are a problem on the roads at times, certainly wouldn't want to plow into one hey, wouldn't end very well!

I used to do a little ocean fishing when I was a kid in Port Douglas in QLD.

Man there were some great fish in there. Big trevally and groper... Probably all gone these days.
