Just don't use anything soft that will fall apart quickly or they can easily walk away with.

Chicken wings.

The rubbery skin and tendons stop them getting it too easily.

Lots of thing work well, I normally use Grunters that I catch by the dosen while going for sand whiting.

The best crab bait is carp.

We used to buy the chicken carcass from the butchers they generally sold for soup. Worked real well and being mostly bones made it easy to tie into the pot with some light wire. Failing that, there's a ginger cat round my place I've been trying to hit with the car, you're welcome to have it once I nail it with a Bridgestone.

Rabbit would work too I'm sure. Any meat with some hide/skin to keep it together.

Chicken frame with a wire through the ribs isn't going anyway.

And a good dunk in tuna oil before you sink it.

Where would you buy horse meat if you didn't have horses yourself getting knackered?

Carp are popular with professional cray fishers. There used to be a bloke around here with a licence to "electro-fish" for them, he then shipped them to SA by the truck-load.

Try beef tongue.

The skin on that's like leather and can't be easily pulled. Won't fall apart in water.

They can be pests here as well, probably not like that, though. I'm OK with a house cat but 10 feral cats are a big problem. Or if they pee on my front door. I don't know if there is a kitty heaven but I know they don't send finders fees.

We have something like 15 million feral cats that kill an average of 17 native animals a day each.
