What a bloody good idea!

I love glamping, won't be going back to roughing it type camping after experiencing how good it can be. :D

This is my basic setup

This is the bed

The quilt to keep me nice and warm
http://www.downia.com/ecommerce/quilts/ ... duvet.html

The gazebo that is fully encloseable and I attach the Hub to one end of it

The Hub

Portable Hotwater system for showers

Got my Honda Genie to run all the electical stuff - all I need now to to get some LED Light Bars and she should be a sweet little setup for Glamping

I got my bag from a local camping supply place that a mate of mine works at called Bunyips. bear in mind that this could be the thin end of the wedge here because my new bag is as big as a swag I used to have, is rated to minus 4 F, or about minus 15C. It's big enough and is canvas on the outside and snuggly lining inside. Trouble with all this cold weather comfort is as you get older you have to get up in the middle of the night to drain the spuds. I'll work on an alternative to that; maybe a hose or something.

I can recall camping in my mates Vauxhall way back when I was young and stupid. He's be in the front seat and I'd be in the back seat. We were both over 6ft tall and slept with one door open in order to stretch out a bit. Woke up one fine morning near Mudgee with frost on my boots, and the mates hat frozen to the dashboard. Ah the camping potential of bench seats. Glamping was yet to be invented.

 Can relate to that one mate, I used to sleep in the back of the FJ40 SWB Softop, was a tad squashy at times but we didn't mind, it was just part of the adventure. We soon learn't that setting up a tent was a good option if we were staying more than a night.

And as you probably know the older you get the more creature comforts on ends up getting and she's hard going back to the "Good ol Days"

I love Glamping now!

Sounds like a nice comfortable setup mate, makes for a nice sleep, nothing better than waking up feeling refreshed after a good hard days shooting.

I also have fond memories of hearing the cracking of ice on my swag as I try to put off the inevitable. No more of that, but I still like my dome tent, stretcher and self inflating mattress. I've added a pillow lately!

You'll be a Glamper in no time if you keep adding those luxuries to you camping outfit

Why rough it if you don't have too (not like you have to carry the crap in - well I don't I just drive up to where I want to camp and set up) too old and too broken to be carrying backpacks anymore so glamping it is for me now! and I have to say I much prefer it. :D

Nothing wrong with a bit of comfort mate, I've just turned 70 and have plenty of hunting years ahead of me yet, and knowing you have some comfort at the end of the day is great to look forward to. That business of back packing into remote country has not happened for a very long time. Although some times I'll just make do with a lean to tarp, I still want a stretcher up off the ground. How you packed two of you into a SWB Cruiser has got me buggered.

I'm not so worried about the hard ground, it's not great to start but after lying on it for half an hour you body seems to relax and you relax into it instead of the other way around or something.

Being cold just sucks though
