Ruger Precision Rimfire Review

Hey All,
I finally got to take my new RPR out yesterday for sighting in.
I had it on order since January!

I fitted up a Hawke Vantage 4-12x40AO scope (great scope for the price), and clipped on my knockoff Atlas bipod to an M-LOK to picatinny rail adapter.

Didn't have ages to shoot, but I was quite happy, sighted in no worries and started getting decent groupings with cheap winchester T22.
I intend to do a larger range of ammo tests when I have time to go out again.

Feeds properly so far, stock ergonomics are great, trigger is nice and light, although it has a little creep.

Surprised to find the little trigger adjustment allen key that lives in the stock is missing, as is the cover for it.

Overall I am quite happy with my purchase/rig.

Interested to see how you go! Mine didn't like T22 much.
I bought a 10 round magazine. Feeds much better that the 15 round one.

Mines like Eley subsonic HP the most. SK rifle match is also pretty good.

CCi standard and Eley standard are also pretty good. With CCI STANDARD bring the cheapest. I'm happy with mine. Plenty of not so positive reviews on Rimfire central.

I picked mine up last week but haven’t had a chance to take it out.

I watched a video where a guy used aluminium tape to bed the barrel block and his groups dropped significantly.

Impressive
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

Thanks Miniaction

I booked a roll of foil tape to a job today. Might be awhile before I test it. Haven't even checked to stock bolt tension from new yet. Will report back after I try the mod. Thanks

Hey Fuzzy, what ring height did you go with? I’ve got one on order myself and have a Nikon with a 42mm objective to go on it and was hoping to get an idea of what I’d need, I’m using low rings with the rifle it’s on now, but that’s with a pic rail.

I have some fairly high rings I had on another rifle, they are kwik site branded. The rings can't be too low due to the height of the stock.

Did alright today. From a clean bore, fired eight seasoning shots. Then did the top two groups, had a break then did the bottom two. Light breeze was around by then, but had little effect.

Ammo was sk standard plus.

This is at 50 yards, those are two dollar coins.

Also checked the trigger weight, it's 1.5lb.

Was not at all impressed by the drone that illegally flew over to spy on us. It is the second time it has happened.

I would love too, but it isn't worth losing my firearms license over.

I do however have a bit of electronics know how, drone video is transmitted on open channels.
Not hard to use cheap ebay gear to receive their video feed and record it....... ;)
