22LR game shok

Hi, probably a stupid question, but.... is there any risk of damaging the rifling inside your barrel when using 22lr game shok?

It's a topic thats been around since they first started loading .22 rat shot.

Is it hard on your barrel.... I don't know, I have used a few packs with no dramas.

I briefly looked into these before but couldn't find the answer I was looking for...

re: barrel damage, as long as the pellet/capsule doesn't open until after it exits the muzzle I can't see why there would be a problem.

If the capsule could potentially open in mid barrel and spew out the shot and remains of the pill, then I'm not keen on the idea.

Haven't found anything from federal guaranteeing this though...

Someone here will know what it is... (I can't remember)... but there is a similar one 22LR round that is like a plastic bullet filled with shot.

Easier on the barrel that this?

The fed ammo doesn't look like it is encased. I've seen the plastic bullet style one though. Maybe the fed ammo has an internal was like shotgun shell.

That be the one!

Did some more research which revealed the range of these shot shells is pretty bad. Comes out around 1000fps, but splays real bad real fast..

Not sure I'll bother with the experiment now..

Thx for the replies guys.

Yup, range is real limited.

Not that you'd expect top performance blasting shot down a rifle barrel which isn't designed for it.
