Been wanting one of these for a while and now looking to buy. Just how good are these oldies? They don't seem to last long when the good ones are up for sale. Cheers.

I love mine, it's no bench rest rifle but it's a beaut little hunting rifle and I've had it since I was a teen and it's never let me down, still got the original Jap 4x Tasco and cheap mounts sitting on it and none of that's been touched since the day it went on

This one looks like a 2E version - hogs-back stock. The "old" Model 2 is highly sought after, especially if it hasn't been boogered with. Better yet, I think a Model 5 is much nicer.

The Brno is a superb, but overpriced, rifle. They have become the starry-eyed wunderkind choice of exotic European 22, when for around the same money you could buy an Anschutz. They were once the cheaper end of the Euro market but have crept up in price, perhaps because shooters my age are having nostalgia attacks about them, so we are pushing the price along with the "new fans". The Model 2 is the most common in this part of the world, and the Model 3 & 4 the least. Model 5's are a Model 2 receiver with a Model 1 barrel, and are not so common but pull good money when they do come along. A good Model 1, especially with the TGF marked receiver will cost heaps due to collector interest in that particular model. I have 4, and would not part with any of them, so buy one Gun nut, you won't regret it, Cheers.

Mate I had a model 2 that I foolishly let go around 12 years ago. Was my very first rifle, loved it. Big mistake selling it. Nothing but good things to say about it.

I only have one, but I wouldn't part with it either. There were several changes during their long production, earlier ones being the most sought after. Magazines from the current CZ's work in them as do modern Lithgow ones.

Yep she's a 2E mate, a lovely little rifle to hunt with indeed and very capable of putting holes in rabbits head out around 80m with good consistency which is plenty good enough for this black duck I can tell ya. :D

I have a '54 Model 1 and a '56 model 5 which has the nicest wood ive ever seen on any Brno.Model 5 shoots about .6moa. As far as i know the model 5's are the rarest (aside from target versions) and most desirable.

If youre after a model 5, dealer in superior drv Dandenong(forgot name) had 2 the other week for around the 900 mark.

quite a while ago I put a Hatcher's stock on my boy's model 2, they look a bit bulky but are very easy to hold steady off the shoulder and to carry
good value

Model 1, model 2 and model 5 are almost the same rifle.
No major changes until the model 2e (short version of a very complex history)
All including the 2e are very nice .22’s to own and you will love your model 2 and probably never sell it.
The only problem you’ll have now is stopping yourself from buying a model 1....
Then a 5 then a 2e then a 3 and 4!!!

My model 1 and 2
I’m still keeping my eye out for a nice model 5 and 2e ;)

The Model 1 is different in a few ways. Trigger, sights, bolt etc Enough that the Model 2 wasn't just called the Model 1a :drinks:

Yeah I realise the differences, was just explaining to gun nut that he would’ve been happy with any of the above mentioned models.

Looks like a nice model 2 he’s found at a reasonable price too.
I’ll be keen to know what he thinks of it.

Yes a very good price when you factor in $90 for a steel 10 round magazine thrown in.

I'd try it with the scope that's on it before you try the VX on it. I tried an older VX on mine and couldn't get it shooting consistently- a combination of incorrect paralax and inconsistent cheekweld due to high mounting to clear the bolt.

Will do. Can't wait to get it and have a good session at the range. PTA in!!! I will post some better pics when I get the rifle.
