In case there's any interest, I took a few pictures while assembling this rifle - Quite a departure from the Traditional 64 and 54 actions.

Yes, it is nice and all, but is it a sportco. I think not.

Very strong and beefy looking action, looks like a great bit of kit.

Very modern stock design - I like it!
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

The stock is one of Hatcher's in XXX grade English Walnut:

I bought it from a young fellow in Brisbane who has done a nice job completing it - Finished with multiple coats of Tru Oil. I'll have it bedded for my black LA101 and keep it as my "pretty" Lithgow. Wouldn't dream of touching anything on my Maddco barrelled action in the laminated stock - Best performing 22 sporter I've EVER owned.

The model 1761 is an all-new series of rimfire rifles from Anschutz. Designed and produced in Germany, it represents years of research and development. The Anschutz 1761 is available in two stock designs (thumbhole or classic), two barrel lengths and three popular rimfire calibres, 22LR, 22WMR AND 17HMR.

That’s very nice but I could make it look even more Australian if I borrowed it and took it out on my quad for a week amongst some blacksoil and Galv burr

Interesting review of the 1761 here:

I agree with his comment about the bolt handle - It's a tad short for big hands - Simply rectified by unscrewing the ball and fitting something like that offered by DIP Products.

I'm afraid they do! I've owned a lot of Anschutz rifles but this new 1761 functioned perfectly and shot accurately straight out of the carton - Sadly, like Michael SA's new LA101, several NIB Anschutz sporters I've owned required mods and/or adjustments to get them to perform at their price point!
