Ruger 77/22

Post by cruze82 » 19 Feb 2014, 10:02 am

Hi Guys

I've been looking for a .22 for a while for something fun and cheap to shoot and have almost decided on a Ruger 77/22.

Has anyone got one of these or have an opinion on them?

I'm after a good all rounder bit of target shooting and bit of hunting.

Yeah a mate of minje has one, it really is a great rifle for just about anything you could want a .22 for :)

They're a good little workhorse of a rifle.

Relatively inexpensive, pretty light - as all 22's are...

10 shot rotary mag is a nice addition too... Save yourself spending $100 to upgrade a little 5 shot mag which comes with so many other bolt action 22's.
See you on the firing line.

Geez that can't be right can it? $1,100 for a 22 Ruger

You could buy something top end like an Anschutz for that much...

My Anschutz 1416DHB was less than $1,100.

Not knocking the Ruger itself, but for that price they're really pushing it...

Buy an Anschutz with the sporter stock of you've got that much to spend on your rimfire. Forget the Ruger...

Have they gone up a lot recently?

I could have sworn the Ruger 22 was like $900?

I think over the past few months a lot of things have.

So my LGS was telling me due to Beretta and whichever other importers putting their prices up.

In reaction to stuff in the US as always I expect.

I have one in 22mag Stainless steel synthetic stock. I've had for god at least 20 years has been a great little machine, have not had any problems. The only thing I did was a trigger job and thats it. With standard Win 40gr HP 22Mag it shoots a 5c coin at 50yards all day every day with a 8 power scope.

I get that...

"Prices are going to go up soon, you better buy it today."

Things are in a permanent state of "about to go up"

I have got a ruger 77/22 magnum
it is a great gun!!!!
I have shot any thing from rabbits at 100 to 150 yard foxes, feral cats. it is a great little gun. the only thing that I had trouble with mine was the trigger was a bit heavy. but that was an easy fix.

Gotta agree that $1100 for that is asking a lot.

Not a terrible rifle by any means, but not enough for that price IMHO.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?
