Hey guys
2 weekends ago I went in to my LGS and bought a 2nd hand air rifle.
The little tag hanging from it read: manufacturer: BSF model :B25.
I have come to think that it’s actually a B45 as I can’t find any information about a B25.
I can only find limited information about BSF and the model B45 as well as some other models.
It was made in West Germany.
It has ‘Made in Germany West’ stamped on the barrel.
This would indicate it was manufactured after 1948 (after WW2)(?)
I think BSF is known a ‘Bavaria’.
Sometime in the 1980’s (maybe as early as 1982) BSF was sold to another company, maybe an English firearms manufacturer.
I don’t know how long after the English company acquired BSF they dropped the BSF/ Bavaria name.
There are all types of model BSFs up to and (I think) ending with the S80 air rifle.
I don’t know if they stopped one model name and then moved to the next (ie: Stopped production of the B45 & started B55) or if they were manufacturing models simultaneously.
I wanna say my one was manufactured in the 50’s or 60’s but the condition of the stock (to me) indicates that it was probably manufactured in the early 80’s.
I’m trying to find out more information. Can anyone give me any information on BSF and/or the model B45?
I think the serial number is 9796. This number is stamped on the action and the barrel.
I say think, because the paperwork is a bit screwed up and I think the model number (B45 KAL4.5) has been recorded as the serial number and the serial number has been recorded as B25. (Not my doing! This is the way the lgs sold it to me.)
It needs a good clean. The stock is in good condition, the barrel is in fair condition with some pitting / corrosion.
There appears to be an adjustment screw in the back end of the action. There is a - and a + either side of a screw. The pic I took of it is not great.
Can anyone give me any information on BSF and/or the model B45?
I’ll post a few pics..
Thanks guys
