G’day gents

Just chasing opinions on the CZ457. Thinking about getting one in the near future. Not for target shooting.

I have read the previous threads on 457, however would be interested in hearing from anyone who has been using one for a while.

They are a bit rough but generally shoot well. If it was a choice between the CZ and a Tikka, I would choose the Tikka.

G’day deye243, mate I was looking at the 457 American, 24” standard profile barrel. There are several different models of the 457, some being heavy barrelled.
Trigger is adjustable but as I understand it, not a set trigger like the 527.

I was thinking of the rifle from several years ago .
Anyway for what it's worth the one my mate has is very accurate but like all cz triggers it was crap I recon they should have an option of buying a rifle without a trigger and knock off a couple a hundred off the price so we can put a decent one on ......

Doing a cheap trigger job on My 455, was a mission. Naturally, this might not apply to the 457, for all I know But if it does, then the OP might be a lot happier in the long run, to buy a rifle with a decent, no-fuss, trigger.

From all accounts the trigger is fully adjustable and isn’t to bad. Well that’s what the reviews on YouTube reckon anyway.

I have had a 457 for a while now and can say in many ways it is a big improvement on the previous 452 and 455 ( I have 2x 452's ). The fit and finish is very good with a smooth bolt from day one and the new fully adjustable trigger is great. The only negative for me is the stock finish as I prefer an oiled finish but this is purely personal choice.
Mine shoots very well with a large selection of ammo and is the only .22 I've ever owned that will group well with CCI stingers. There is a large aftermarket out there for the 457 so you can fit a different stock, trigger guard, barrel or whatever you want. I'm sure you will be happy with your choice.

What exactly does "shoots very well" and "group well" mean? Could you quantify that in terms of consistent MOA results? I've looked at getting a 457 but I'd like to know what they can do as an average, like is the average 457 a .5 MOA rifle out of the box?

I think an inch at 50 metres is more realistic unless your rifle really likes Eley Club. That is 2 MOA.

My 457 will put most brands within 25mm at 50m and I have shot 12mm groups at 50m with stingers.

Well it has arrived and I must say I am quite happy with it. Trigger is a bit heavy however that can be rectified easily enough. Tried a variety of ammunition with it and to be honest it shot most of them well, by that I mean 10 shots under an inch at 50. I figure that’s ok for a brand spanker. Accuracy improved throughout the day. The stand outs grouped less than half an inch. One group had 10 shots in one big hole. All touching. Seems to like Eley and Winchester.
