Brand new CZ 455 22LR with sporter barrel (18 inch i think, didn't matter, the second barrel was the same length) on a Boydes Tacticool stock, no bedding.
Shot from a benchrest at 50m i was getting 1"-1.3" groups.
Changed the barrel to a factory varmint barrel of the same length, also brand new.
Shot with the same ammo, scope and conditions, was getting 0.5"-1" groups
Factors that i did not take into account were torque on the stock and barrel retaining screws.
Conclusion, I like Varmint barrels for target rifles:) They just feel right.
Awesome
Thanks for your feedback man
That's exactly the type of feedback I was after
So you've experienced a difference of 0.3" to 0.5" between the sporter and varmint barrel
With the varmint being the better one
That's good to know
I thought that would be the case to be honest
That the difference would work out to be 0.5" difference max only (roughly)
I didn't think the difference would be more than 0.5"
