Hi I need some help to identify a old.22 single shot rifle. The rifle belonged to my grate grandfather just when is lost in history some time before WWII.
Marking are on the right hand side of the barrel just below and to the back of the rear site
MADEINGERMANY (stampede just like that)
212568
A crown over B

A crown over G

A Crown over U
5.4 W/M
Halfway along the left side of the barrel is “Bully “
Any information ideas or educated guesses would be gratefully welcomed

I can only find reference for two of the marks.
Crown over G, 1st Black-powder proof for rifled barrels, proof-house - E.German, Suhl, and
Crown over U, an Inspection mark at the same proof-house, both since 1950.
Don't know what the other markings might be excepting that 212568 could be a serial number?

Nice, I've never heard of a 5.4mm chambering before.
Does it actually chamber .22 cartridges?

Just found this.

Hi bladeracer I am told it did my graet grandfathers was a rabbit traper and did not like kids and guns in the same place and would hide the bolt in the bush behind his house and lost when he past. My 77 year old dad had used it as a 8-9 year old and said it was.22

G'day Rayy,
I would strongly feel that rifle is one of the export models made by Gustloff Werke in the 1930's, the action is not consistant with the Diana Luft Gewehr 22L singles, but there were a few other trade makers who didn't put their names on products. The Proof stamps on your rifle are pre-1941 and common for German sports rifles of the 1930's period. The calibre marking is bore diameter 5.4mm and the cartridge is "22 Lang Fur Buschen" which most people translate as 22 Long Rifle but I personally feel it should be 22 Long as "Buschen" actually translates as "Bushing" not rifle. I use 22 Z Lang in my 1935 KKW Sportsmodell and it shoots very well, Cheers.
