Tikka T1x - My Extreme Review

Post by TheFirearmEnthusiast » 09 Jul 2020, 11:58 am

Hey guys

I hope that everyone is well

I have had the Tikka T1X MTR in 22LR for quite some time now and I finally decided to truly put it to the test.
I finally decided to find out what the Tikka was truly capable of.

I shot 46x groups with my Tikka T1X MTR in 22LR using CCI standard velocity
It took me roughly 2.5hours of straight shooting for this
I shot all those 46x groups in the one shooting session (in one straight go)

And here are the results that I got:

My best group size was: 0.3” <-----
My most common group size was: 0.5” <-----

Please note;
- These results listed above include all my “flyers” as well. I measured the results completely as is. I did not leave any flyers out of the equation or anything like that, I recorded and listed absolutely every single shot, including the flyers.
- I left my Tikka T1X completely as is. I did not make any changes to the rifle whatsoever. I didn’t even adjust the trigger or anything like that. I kept the rifle completely as is (as it was out of the box)
- I only used a bipod for this experiment. I did not use a rear rest or anything like that.
- Everything was shot from 55 yards away (just off the bench)
- Every single group listed above are 5x shot groups (no more, no less)

Long story short;
The Tikka T1X MTR in 22LR is a fantastic rifle and I do recommend it for anyone considering purchasing it

Thank you for reading my review

And God Bless You all
:thumbsup:

That’s pretty good cosistancy TFE . Impressive. Still , I wouldn’t expect anything less from a tikka . My Cz 452 American will shoot amazing groups initially, but if I keep pumping rounds through the groups open up due to barrel heat I guess

Good shootin. You should do the exact same test again with some expensive ammo.
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

That is some excellent shooting, from you, the rifle, and the ammo.
Really well done!

Bigrich;
Thanks man
And you’re right
I’ve heard so many amazing things about the Tikka’s
It’s pleasant finding out just how great the Tikka’s are for yourself
Yeah, I also heard so many great things about the CZ 452 also
I wonder if the latest CZ will be just as great/just as accurate
I think the latest one that’s gonna come out soon is the CZ 457, if I’m correct?
I don’t know much about CZ’s but I definitely heard great things about them too

Wm.Traynor;
Thank you
I love my Tikka and I love using it
That’s for sure

In2anity;
Yes
As soon as the lockdown is over, I will definitely try the Eley’s and SK’s and see how they perform
They are meant to shoot even better in the Tikka T1X
Obtaining those kind of results with the CCI standard velocity though (at around $0.13 per round)
That’s fantastic to me
Great value for money
That’s for sure
Especially for me since I love to shoot heaps of rounds at a time

BladeRacer;
Thank you so much for your kind comments
Thank you
For this one, I was using the Vortex Crossfire II 6-24 x 50mm
I enjoy using it
I enjoy the high magnification
I enjoy the large 50mm objective lens also
:)

a lot of modern rifles can shoot better than their owners TFE ;)

bloody rimfires can be picky over the ammo they like , your of to a good start already with your tikka mate . my cz likes SK match . give it and a few other brands a go mate, see if there's anything else that works :thumbsup:

Mate that is some nice shooting, and some great performance from the rifle. Had I have read this a few months ago I would have perhaps gone with the Tikka over my CZ457.
Well done mate. :thumbsup: :drinks:

Is the t1x like the same size rifle as the t3x or is it a bit smaller? I have a fair bit of trouble with a lot of 22 rifles as I'm a fairly large person so a lot of the small footprint rifles are quite uncomfortable to use.

Nice job...did the groups gradually open up as you want further along? Or were the random?

Bigrich;
Yeah, once the restrictions end, I’ll definitely buy some SK and Eley ammo
Just to test them out
Just to see how they perform
Why not

FNQ;
The best 5shot group that I shot so far has been a 0.3” group (including "flyers")
I wanna see how tiny I can go
I find it fun trying to be as accurate as possible
I appreciate the challenge

Robin;
Yeah man
I really do enjoy the Tikka T1X
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed
I think you’ll like it too

JimTom;
Thank you for the kind words
Yeah I’m not sure which one is more accurate between the Tikka T1X and the CZ 457
I probably will buy a CZ down the track as well this way I’ll be able to compare the two
I was always interested in the CZ’s too to be honest

BigKev74;
I can’t really remember exactly
But I do think that the T1X is smaller than the T3X’s
(I think, you may have to double check that)

Harrynsw;
They were just random
I just sorted my groups out from “small to big”
But yeah nah
They were all random
The rifle still performed amazingly well, considering the fact that it probably got quite warm on the inside of the barrel after just having shot 46x groups
I’m impressed
I feel like the Tikka T1x is definitely a rifle that you can rely and count on
That's for sure

The T1X has the same footprint as the T3X, you can fit it to another aftermarket Tikka stock. Of course the action and magazines are smaller and the shorter barrel of the rimfire make it lighter.

The Tikka is a good thing for a budget rimfire, there are others that I have seen do well like the Ruger RPR. Put aside any prejudice about the plastic chassis and you find they are pretty good to use too.

Good to see the OP is getting some great results, it is confidence inspiring for a new shooter. I wish I had a Tikka for my first rimfire.
