Well favourite 22lr.
Would have been a Winchester 2a
Very short single shot 22 that you could carry around your rabbit trap line.
I thought it was legendary.
But then I grew up and had an early 1022 that after a lot of tweaking.....like three years would shoot a 10 cent piece at 100 yards most the time.
I found I hated the magazine the nail ripping cranky feeding thing and for spotlighting out the Ute widow it was a pain to empty the chamber to put it back in the passenger side foot well.
It got stolen so..
I bought a left hand Remington 581 bolt that I rotary hoed into the ground after it fell through my secure picking bag off the tractor.
After a barrel chop and such it still is my favourite after probably 40 yrs of use.
I’ve had more accurate and different actions. I had to replace the plastic magazine as it fell apart one day with a 10 shot one and it hangs down in the way a little for offhand shooting in one position . The5 shot mag was just right.
Bought a Brno 1 1950 and playing with it .
It is sorta nice but for a legend I thought the firing pin fit and finish would have been lots mo better.
Ooooh!
Then there’s that old Lithgow that was deadly accurate I borrowed once that just seemed to float to the rabbits eye and stay there.
The browning trombone was fun on running rabbits and hares.
But despite all definitely the shorty Remington as it’s been hacked away to fit me and I know it so well.
What ever you choose look after it and it should serve you well.
