Hi all, I’ve had my eyes on a Lithgow LA101 .22 as my first rifle however there’s an extremely good deal at the moment on .17hmr which is hard to resist. Not a fan of the colour etc but at $799 that’s a great deal. It would only be used for rabbits, plinking etc. ah what to do...

As I have said before, unless money is no object, by all means plink away with the 17HMR. I plink with my LA101 in 22 and fox or longer range shoot bunnies with my Sako 17HMR.

Every shooter needs a 22. Fork out for the la101 - they are great guns

I’m definitely getting a Lithgow..17hmr for $799, that’s approx $400 less than the same rifle 22..
Ammo for ..22 is so much cheaper though..

Shooting the 22 is guilt free. I’ll usually burn through 3 boxes of cheap SV per range session easy - that’s 150 rounds. Unless you have money to burn, 17hmr is too expensive just to have fun with like that.
