Is the Brno #2 1977-452 model a genuine BRNO or was the 77 model made in the Cz / BRNO . factory (technically, they're one and the same company).
I am chasing one that doesn't have the CZ stamped on it
Okay....
I don't know when Brno's changed labels to the newer designation of CZ Brno but I have a 1965 Brno and did own a 1985 Brno Model 2E. Sometime after that they started with the CZ-Brno I think... not sure. Beside that, it's the same company. Realize that the CZ is Československá zbrojovka where they are made...ie it's a location hence Brno CZ or vis versa. Neither of them have CZ stamped on them anywhere.
My Brno Model 2 1965 is in as new mint condition, well looked after and is as accurate as a very expensive custom target rifle. I did shoot a lot of 200 Yard competition with my Brno and boy did I get some strange comments from others when they spotted what I was using and beating their custom rifle.
If you read the Wiki you will see that sometime around 2006 there was a change in the company and possibly this is when the CZ started to be included with the models being CZ Brno. The quality in my view did not change, I have a few CZ 527's plus a few Sako's and Tikka's and there is not much difference in accuracy. The CZ 527's being based on a Mauser Action are rather clunky and not anywhere as slick as say a Sako but big difference in price.
Do a Google on Brno and you will find a lot about the history of the company to what it is today.
Have a look at this site for a lot of extra information....
