CZ452-2E ZKM Or LA101

Post by GreenNeck » 01 Jun 2022, 6:50 pm

I'm a new shooter and recently Impulse bought a CZ452-2E ZKM Varmint for $1200 AUD, it is in okay condition and am currently awaiting approval.

After reading a bit more on the subject i am wondering if i had made a mistake overpaying or buying the wrong gun in general.

essentially i'm just seeing opinions on .22 rifles and whether i should return the second hand CZ, and buy a new LA101.
I'm not looking for the most accurate .22 as i will never be able to use the full capability of it, but i am interested in a over engineered robust action that feels solid and can take a beating.

Kind Regards -GreenNeck

Absolutely nothing wrong with the 452. It is a rifle that has been well proven over many decades. The triggers are ordinary but can be improved easily. I own 2x452's a 455 and 2x457's and a LA101. All are decent rifles built to .as a lifetime and then some.

Yep even with the scope that's a hefty price for a 452.

But the cz452 is a very nice rifle, before covid you could easily get them for 700-900 i seen a few selling for as low as 550.

Price is representative of the fact that the 452 was brilliant and the 455 is rubbish. Not going to open a debate about this I have both and that's my take.
I'd take a 452 over the Lithgow easily.
I'll pay up to $1200 to replace my 455 with a 452 when that project gets to the top of the list. I was only just months late when I bought the 455. Everyone was out of stock of the 452 and I did no research on the 455, just took for granted it would be an improved design.

Id pay 1200 to have my old CZ452 2E again. Was such a good shooter but sold it 10 years ago when I moved between countries.

Concur with Boundry Rider. While I havent used a CZ457 or CZ455 you notice on the big rimfire forums like rimfire central, a lot more guys want old Cz452's than any other variants.

The Farmer model is the CZ 513. The CZ 453 is the model with the set trigger.

I have a 452 American, I think the 452 is the pick of the rimfires. $1200 is a bit steep but they don't make them any more, supply and demand. I've been on the lookout for a Varmint to add to my collection (arsenal) but they've always been too pricey.

I have a 1983 Brno 452. and its shoots like a dream. I bought it in 1984 and it shoots better than I can these days.
