Was in the right place at the right time this morning at lgs. A guy walked in with a couple of brnos and another strange looking rifle that grabbed my attention. Had a look at it and it seemed pretty good nick for how old it is turns out its a mauser ms420 solidly built heavy barrel and still has original . Really odd looking bolt never seen one before

Is it a 420 or a 420b? Either way they are a very rare and highly desirable rifle for those who collect Oberndorf 22.

Very nice, the 420 is quite unique in it's bolt design. Does it have a flat base mag or the original very angled base mag? Some of these were used as Trainers for the SturmAbteilung and had the SA stamped on the side of the butt, Wehrmacht seem to have used mostly 420b, probably due to the cost and scarcity of the 420. One worth keeping in my opinion, desired by Collectors of Training Rifles like me and Mauser rimfire Collectors, throw up some pics if you can? Cheers.

Its stock is different to the other ones Ive looked at in internet land as well. Was thinking of refinishing the stock but I think I might leave it as is, it gives it a bit of character
