Drip Catcher

I need to stop rust preventative from oozing off the bristle brush, when it is initially pushed into the chamber of my CZ455. The stuff not only fills the extractor cut-outs in the breach face but it can dribble down lower, under the action, potentially getting in to the bedding. Do any of the contraptions on the the market, Bore-Tech, Possum Hollow, do any good at catching the ooze? :violin:

Are you talking whilst cleaning?

Stand your rifles muzzle down in the safe. I use patches, not brushes for cleaning, but I spray solvent through the bore first and let it stand for five or ten minutes before patching. If I have some stubborn crud I'll wrap a solvent-soaked patch around the nylon brush for scrubbing. I see no value at all in applying solvent to a brush and expecting it to have any effect within the bore.

No Oldbloke. This is oiling the bore after cleaning to stop rust in this salty, coastal, humid climate.

I just spray G96 down the barrel and stand it noisy end down for a while before putting it away.

??
You can get those plastic 'Possum Hollow' solvent port units; pretty sure I have one for my CZ455?
They have an o-ring to fit into your chamber, to minimise oil/solvent getting into the action itself.

I ended up with one for all of my bolt-action rifles.

Pretty sure there are a heap of different brands of solvent ports around these days.

Can only suggest thicker oil/grease and store barrel down.

Squirting something down the bore is sounding pretty easy :D
