CZ457 MDT Stocks

Post by madang55 » 04 Apr 2025, 12:57 pm

I have a CZ457 in the basic Varmint stock. I would really like to get my hands on a MDT Oryx chassis. And I mean get my hands on one, in particular my right hand with half my trigger finger missing. Anyone in Victoria have one and is a regular attendee at Little River? I need to know if my hand will fit. The straight pistol grips do not fit. Has to be the rearward sloping grip which allows the hand (finger) to move forward. Or, if you have one, where did you get it. Shops don't stock and ordering one in just for me to put my mitts on it aint gonna happen.

Ok, I'm claiming record. over 250 views and not one reply. Must be a bit of a slap in the face for MDT. Someone in VIC must have a MDT ORYX stock on a CZ457.

Sorry mate, I've got an MDT Field stock on my CZ 457, not an Oryx and I've never been to Little River

If it's anything like the one that I have for my howa 223 Heavy Barrel keep looking the comb and the butt of the stock is way above center line of bore which literally means if you have any respect for your chamber and throat area you've got to remove it from the stock to clean it or mill out an area for the cleaning Rod to go through

Can you put a folder on the Oryx?

Cheers, its going on a 22LR so a cleaning rod I might be able to do away with for a while. But....the Butt looks like it is interchangeable, therefore removeable, still, only one way to find out I think.

I have it. No problem with a cleaning rod. I have had to position the cheek riser at its lowest and still need to change my rings out to Very High rings to get a proper sight picture. ORYX chassis does not come with any sling studs and only the MDT stud will fit. .$$. Personally, I think they should. My LOP is in need of the spacer kit. 3 extra pieces of plastic. $$. I'm missing half my trigger finger. Need to change out the grip to a slimmer one. Knew that was a possibility, shouldn't have poked it in the wrong chain sprocket in the first place. The magazine well is DEEP. But, after playing with it, The mag release is easy to get to. If I do run into trouble there are after market extensions available. Now all I got to do is get to the range and play proper.

i have the Howa 223 Heavy fluted. "Shorter" barrel. Sound like the same one. Waited quite a while for one to come up for sale. Mine is in a B&C stock and shoots pretty damn good with Super Roos. Does it shoot any better in the Chassis? Don't think there will be too much of a weight difference.
