Prices for .22's going overboard ?

Post by GPostal » 02 Sep 2014, 7:41 pm

what's the deal with the high prices for old cz's (Brno's) ?

Weihrauch's for $1500 ?????? Does this mean they have stopped sending poor quality units for the non returnable Aussie market.

Has the world gone completely MAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ummm Lithgow crossovers $995 - Laughable = CZ copy and a plastic stock ....maybe with a really nice Monte Carlo bit of wood and a nice custom case.

I will still be buying one but seriously Lads
Some .22's--Lots of 303 Lithgows--Tactical Mosin--7mm and an 8mm--Underover--Farmers Shottie--Angel and Omark

I used one of those lithgows recently, the action wasn't too bad the rifle suffered from feed issues constantly and the accuracy wasn't what I'd expected (yes many brands of ammo were tried with average results) I have also seen the same brand rifle shoot well. I liked the overall finish of them, nicely machined etc, the plastic doesn't do it for me but they may be bringing one out with a Laminated stock which appeals more to me, but to be honest I'd rather just stick with the Savage and Brno Mod 2, their getting the job done very well and cost less than half the Lithgow (Savage was $450 from memory and the Brno was $180 at the time).

I imagine it probably costs them more to make Crossovers as they haven't been set up for making cheap rifles for years like Savage and Marlin etc.
Although I would really be hoping that if you were to spend ~$1000 on a .22 it should be MOA accurate and feed well out of the box.

I am sick of companies these days who just don't seem to put in the testing required to make reliable products.
I really like the idea of the .17WSM/BMAG but it is so unreliable, would have been perfect for people like my mate who would like a rimfire that does 150+.

And that's why they won't be dropping their prices. People still buy.

(Don't get me wrong though, if prices came down I sure as well wouldn't be complaining)

It pays to shop around.

I'm always surprised at he difference in cost between my to locals.

About 40 minutes from each other but for that the prices at one is about 30% more for ammo.

On something common like a Tikka it would be $150 more.

Tell me about it.

I'm helping a mate get into shooting and was giving him some ideas for his first .22.

Talked up the CZ for the price based on what I remembered them being, got down to actually looking at one for him and they've gone way up.

I paid $1,100 for my Anschütz 1416. A Weihrauch ain't going to shoot better than this.

Happy to save myself $400 and get the 1416 instead :D

I purchased a CZ last week for $690, guy at the local said these rifles are getting harder to find and the next batch may cost $740 or more :(

That's the problem with buying expensive firearms, they figure you were willing enough to shell out a small fortune for a rifle so they figure you'd do the same for the accessories to make em better. I could buy 3 Savage Mags or almost 3 Brno Mags for those prices - bloody rude how they price gouge ya because you like nice things hey.

Nice rifle too by the way Westy, a friend just bought one himself the other day.

Cheapest ammo going still. Rifle cost is really very similar depending on quality. Or just a bit cheaper maybe.

We get f***ed here on all shooting prices.

We get screwed here for everything as we are a small market.

Firearms are even worst as we are at the bottom of the list for imports.

The Federal Government and Customs do not help either.

I was looking Ruger in .257 Roberts a while ago and calling around best answer I could get was 12-18 months wait for one. For a regular old Ruger :?.

Luckily got one second hand :)
