Just got back from town after having paid for a new Winchester (Browning) BL-22 lever action. Only cost $1000.00 so pretty happy with that.

The sale was done in about 2 minutes so just have to wait for the PTA to turn up. Pretty well have everything covered now with the .30-06, .204 and now a .22. Let's see how it shoots? :drinks:

Nah, I don't need a shotgun. This Winchester will just be the proverbial plinker. No intention of putting a scope on it, open sights all the way.

The Aimpoint scope on my .30-06 has no magnification...I'm going to treat this the same way, albeit with iron sights.

I have shot a LOT of things using simple old iron sights, a Browning lever is a fine rifle.

Might do a bit of a review on it whenever the PTA turns up.

I think it will be a fun rifle to shoot...for a .22. With a short lever throw of 33% it should be as quick as a semi auto cycling it.

I'm looking forward to this rifle...and shooting it with open sights.

That's the one thing my safe is really missing. A good lever with just the irons on it, no scope.

The only decent lever is the Browning or its miroku twin(same rifle)

I'm getting the Browning...for some reason Winchester also claim it. Mine will have Browning stamped on it.

But it's made in Japan. A good lever action .22.

There used to be a big difference but it wouldn't surprise me if winchester were now just re branding the browning/miroku- the Japanese one is far superior to the old winchester 22

Don't Miroku make both Winchester and Browning nowadays? Separate designs just made by the same company and quality controls.

I do like the idea of the Browning BLR takedown I must say. Don't know how good they are but the idea appeals.

Otherwise a 'classic' one would also do nicely I'm sure.

Just curious... I haven't bought anything interstate but I thought if you bought from a NSW dealer they would ship to a VIC dealer then you do your PTA there.

You have to do a permit with NSW reg as well to get them to ship to the dealer to start do you? :huh

There are two gun stores about 3 kilometre from each other....one in VIC and the other in NSW. I've always gone to the NSW store, for the quality of service, high turn over....and the fact a Browning lever action was not available from the VIC store. I can get the firearm in NSW but VIC have to do the paper work.

NSW can't do electronic PTA's with VIC. I'm not going to go through the hassle of shipping a firearm 3 kilometre.

So it snail trail, hasn't been 7 days yet....I expect the PTA to turn up some time this week.
