Is that a .22 in your pants or are you just happy to see me

A YOUNG man was arrested when police discovered a loaded gun down his pants during a car check in the state's north.

POLICE stopped the vehicle, containing four men, in South Grafton on Tuesday night, where they found a machete, a knife, methylamphetamine and bullets in the car.

Searches of the male passengers revealed a loaded .22 calibre sawn-off rifle down the pants of the 23-year-old and prescription drugs on a 27-year-old man.

The 23-year-old was charged with numerous firearm offences.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Grafton Local Court on Wednesday. http://www.news.com.au/national/breakin ... 7268089876

Sawn-off or not how do these guys think that's going to go unnoticed. Try to convince a cop "that's all me"

Between it being sawn off and having a bag of meth I think he's got enough problems as it is. Probably unregistered. Machete just to round things off.

Someone's grand dads 22 from from the attic more likely than stolen I'd say.

He boned.

But not on any firearms related charges, guarantied a deal will be done for some information on his drug supplier. Information that will filed away somewhere because they are only interested in getting the Mr Big's of the drug world.

Except that it makes a mockery out of the "we need tougher firearms laws to combat the illegal use of firearms" argument. And if you or I or any other LAFO gets pinged for some slight over sight, we will cop the full wieght of the law to bare down on us because we don't have anything to plea bargain with.

Interesting how opposite the aproach to law enforcement is between drugs and guns.
People talking about organized crime, drugs, gangs etc. often use the Pyramid analogy and want to get Mr Big in the top.
Take the top off a pyramid it's easy to repair.
Why not give le base a "real hard kick" and see what happens?

Then presumably he just goes to the next dealer though. Problem not really solved.

Has to be more of a consequence than scott-free even if he brings someone big down.

Forced rehab, parole conditions or some program whatever.
