A brick is usually 10 boxes of 50 rounds in an outer carton. There is no general price as .22lr ammo comes in many different flavours. A brick of cheap standard ammo like CCI might be as low as $60. The High Velocity stuff might be around $75 and the match grade ammo could be as high as $300 for a brick.

If you want a good reliable, consistent and accurate round the SK Magazine works great. It comes in a 500rd tin and sells for about $75 off memory.

Are these normal prices? We've had .22 shortages in the US for a couple years and prices have been elevated, wondering if that affected you. I checked exchange rates are yours still seemed pretty high.

Bought a crate of CCI standard for $370 from Abelas at Campbelltown a few weeks ago.

I normally use SK rifle or pistol match, but, it's getting a bit rich these days.

$70 ish for standard stuff.

Could be two or three times if you want top shelf match ammo though.

Your LGS would be the best place to ask how much - prices can vary a bit from shop to shop depending on their buying power as such.

Those prices seem about right to me.

I found during the US shortage, prices only rased slightly and avaliable of some popular components was very low. Personally I had no troubles getting what i needed ad I buy everything in bulk and order it in advance.

the prices are always much high here in Australia even after factoring in the exchange rate because we pay " The Australia Tax " on average our wages are high, shipping costs from the US are high, dangerous goods transportation costs are high so basically we pay through the nose for ammunition and everything else for that matter.

It's been bad. .22 AR-15 conversions have become hugely popular, as well as bottom-up .22 AR-15s. And they require a lot of food. We also have 1911s in .22 now and .22 conversions for all service style .22 handguns. If that wasn't enough, the full auto guys have .22 conversions for every type of MG out there. Remember my 275 round mag dump video in 20 seconds that required 10 minutes to load? :D There aren't a lot of us, but some of those guys have big bucks and have to be putting a dent into it. Not to mention all the federal licensees (dealers/manufacturers) that get their MGs and their ammo on the cheap and have first dibs before we see it.

Keep in mind that when ammo prices spike people turn to .22 as well. And ammo prices have been very volatile the past 10 years in the US.

Picked up another brick of HV Winny Powerpoints last week. Ran somewhere around $90. Last lot of CCI Standard was $68. Bucket o' Bullets set me back $135. The bucket was more than adequate for plinking. I did find it a little iffy for consistent performance while out chasing bunnies and what not though. That said I did take a lot of stuff with it and it lasted a bloody long time. I got it early December and only ran out last week

You never know until you try.

Probably buy a box first in case it doesn't shoot though before you get a brick. IMO.

Hello,
Depends where you go. The below prices are all for .22lr.
CCI Standard is $45.00 at the HPGS, but at the Sydney Shooting Centre at Cecil Park ,$50.00 or $55.00.
I bought SSK Standard for $65.00 from memory. Federal premium is $78.00 for 2 boxes, both from HPGS.
*Let me know if I need to remove the supplier.*

I hope that helps.

Depends on the brand.

As an example, I've seen 9mm S&B for $25 box of 50. I'd never use this except for the brass. Rubbish ammo.

Anything that is quality costs us about 3 times what you guys are paying (based on the Brownells emails that I get and cry everytime I read them).

Why is that? I know we import a lot of powder from Australia. Who is making the money on all that ammo? Shipping can't triple the cost, can it?

Because the gun shops and importers know that we aren't heading to America to stock up on ammo any time soon.

As an example Here in Australia we should be paying under $1 per litre for petrol at the moment, for a few short weeks we did recently but big buisness is too smart for that... they asked themselves why they weren't taking advantage of the over supply of crude and making massive profits from it so they soon jacked up the price back up to where it was previously $ 1.30 / litre

Im sure if a gun shop could sell ammo at halve the price and they did there would be consequences, like their supply drying up all of a sudden and reps not returning their phone calls ... we are a ruthless mob here, friendly but ruthless.

Maybe... importer adds 50%, wholesaler adds 50% to that, retailer adds their % to that....

Well its relatively easy to put up prices when all competitors stick together and know we don't have a choice but to pay there asking price (that's more directed about the petrol prices)

Don't mean to go off topic but what do you all mean that different ammunitions in the .22 have difference performance?
And what do you look at to judge it's performance?
