Pump action .22 category in QLD?

Post by Jokerj » 29 Jun 2015, 9:21 pm

I am looking at buying a pump action .22. Can these be bought on a category A/B licence.

I can't really find info.

I know pump action shotguns are cat C but not sure about all pumps.

Seems it should be Cat A.

Category A weapons

(1) Each of the following is a category A weapon if it has not been rendered permanently inoperable-

a) a miniature cannon under 120 cm in barrel length that is a black powder and muzzle loading cannon, depicting a scale model of an historical artillery piece or naval gun;
b) an air rifle;
c) a blank-fire firearm at least 75 cm in length;
d) a rimfire rifle (other than a self-loading rimfire rifle);
e) a single or double barrel shotgun;
f) a powerhead.

A pump action is not self-loading so...

A/B no problems...

Thanks. Was thinking of getting a Henry .22 in either lever or pump. Can't really decide between the two. Anyone have the pump and can comment on it?

I just got a old leaver and it is good but would have preferred a pump just not as easy to find used.

My mate has recently inherited his old boys Remington field master .22 pump. It's over 30 years old and cycles smooth as and had decent accuracy. Wouldn't buy a new one though haven't heard good things.

I bought my son the Henry 22LR lever action cause he's a lefty. Beautiful little rifle with silky smooth action, I highly recommend it.

I am a lefty as well so that is a consideration too. I have heard good things about the Henry lever and not much about the pump. Levers being recalled is a worry as well so I have a bit of thinking to do :)

I thought this was going to be a 'sent the apprentice to the hardware store for a left handed screwdriver' bit for a minute there :lol:

I learned on a Winchester model 61, 22 LR pump. I loved it so much that when I bought my first rifle it was a Browning BPR-22, since Winchester had stopped making the Model 61 many years earlier.
I've been asked: "How many guns do you need to have?" My answer remains the same: "One more."
