my hunting .22LR rifle Lithgow crossover 101, range report

Post by SHV » 24 Feb 2016, 8:59 pm

My Anschutz is too heavy to carry out for hunting, so I bought Lithgow although may have the risks of feeding issues...
it is handsome...and later I found out it is accurate enough for hunting, this evening I went to St Mary's, this is the second time shooting at range, this time the accuracy is improved a little

here is the handsome rifle

50 meters, CCI standard velocity, not too bad

BTW this evening St Mary's range A air con is kind of broken, it's hot, so I did it quick

the best 5 shot group, I am happy especially by CCI SV, less than 10 cents per shot

tried some really expensive ammo, but they are no better than CCI SV, maybe due to it was too hot in there and I did it in a hurry, will try it later

Nice shooting there.

Just to let you know St Marys doesn't have aircon in the ranges. It just sucks out the air from inside and blows in air from outside.. So in winter it is cold and summer it is hot...

:)

Have you had any work done with the rifle.. I couldn't get my crossover to anything decent with cci

will try RWS high velocity later, thanks for the info and wish your's come back like new, my lithgow does have stove pipe once, it was Eley or SK 5 round and the last one stand up  but for CCI I've done 1-2k round and nothing wrong at all...

each time go to range 200-300, at my friends farm shot the CCI quiet about 50-100 every day, so it's easy get 1k-2k done in one week :D

all 50 meters 5 round groups

I use CCI quiet to shoot bullet case, about 10 meters offhand

If you're heading out to St Mary's over the weekend drop me a PM as I can bring along several different brands of 22LR you can test with to save you the hassle of having to buy a box only to discover it shoots like crap. Was thinking to head out tonight but the Russian princess has other plans for me :( so might go in the morning.

Expensive doesn't always mean it will shoot better. Some ammo just doesn't agree with some rifles, no matter how good it is.

If the cheap stuff is more accurate for you than the pricey stuff then it's win win, right? :D

you are totally right, the CCI standard velocity is good enough for my Lithgow and Anschutz, but still couldn't help to find "more accurate" ammo...
