Post by NukeBOMB88 » 02 Sep 2016, 9:01 pm

Gday guys I just wanted to see if anyone can help me out here, what would the thread on my Norinco .22 be? 1/2x20? 1/2x28?

Thanks

Yes it is, I've lost the thread protector and I want to buy a muzzle brake to protect the thread

1/2 x 28 is standard but you could go to any tooling store and pick up a thread gauge. About 9 bucks and will tell you what tpi it is

Alternatively get a vernier or even a ruler and count the threads per inch. If you only have half an inch then double it and so on. Should be easy enough to work out. If you cant take a pic of the thread with a ruler next to it and i can tell you

1/2 Inch, 20 TPI (1/2" UNF) is correct. That is the standard thread on .22's in parts of the world under British influence.

The Yanks tend to use 1/2" 28 TPI
count the threads in 1/2 half of an inch or 12.75 mm should be 20 and 1/2 in diamater

I was thinking the other end, the barrel shank....

You put a muzzle brake on a 22... go to the range and by Sunday evening there will be a thread on here about the guy with a brake on his 22

A muzzle brake would be wierd.

Get a new cap made or use some electrical tape. Lol.

Should be easy to get a 1/2 unf nut spun down on a lathe.
