I handled the T1x last week and thought it fitted wheel, certainly points well, bolt not a slick like a CF but very few rimfires are. Large bolt, great trigger, large capacity magazine and stock that fits. Ive had a anchsutz 22WMR and great gun but crap magazine, no capacity and cracked easliy.

Had a RAR in 22LR, nice budget gun but annoying zipper like noise when operating the bolt due to machining marks, crap stock, accurate and OK trigger. Played with a lithgow and have consider , but a heavy feeling and numerous reports of crap feeding strike it off the list.

Be good to see a few more range reviews with the T1x to see what it shoots like.

Ruger American target looks very nice, I want one too  even I've got 3 22 rifles already

So yu gonna get a t1x and give us another review SHV? :D :D :friends:

rather to have the ruger target, some rumour says the T1X has been recalled in the US market...

I can't find a single mention of a T1x recall in any market in the world, no matter how I word the search string.

Do you remember the reason for the recall?

Then I looked a bit more and found this

The recall was in Europe.

That is MoA regardless of caliber - one-sixtieth of one degree.
The circumference of any circle divided by 21,600 is 1MoA.
For a circle of 100m radius it's 29.08mm.

Been away for work last week, I might get a chance to play with it mid week. A mate has a new Savage A22R on back order, should be interesting to see if the Tikka can run with the savage. Personally I think the Lithgows are a bit bulky and with the amount of issues both the centrefires and rimfires have had it was hard to get excited by owning 1.

Yeah cycles good, its a short bolt not as long as a CZ or Annie, but low lift and full size handle means it just works.

I was playing with a mint 10yr old CZ452 Silhouette a few weeks ago and I rate that as probably the finest CZ made, super slick and a very fine rifle, but the cheapness of the CZ mag is a let down, both have their strengths. I think the trigger on the T1x is very sweet, mag is VG but I'll wait and see how it goes on the range.

Been a while since I'd visited a range, anyway I the got the barrel real warm thru both sessions, all groups shot off a Bipod with the barrel channel insert removed so it was fully free floated.

Loved the consistency of the trigger, I will lighten next time. Fired 70 rounds of CCI and Hornady 17grs, every round feed flawlessly and extracted, cant fault the package for performance. Cheap Bushnell scope struggled under the indoor lighting and so did my eyes to be honest.

Image

5 shot group sizes for the Hornday Vmax 17gr at 50m were 16mm, 11mm, 12mm, 11mm, 12.5mm and 9mm. Sighters and Group 1 (4 shots) werent counted

Image

5 shot group sizes for the CCI VNT 17gr at 50m were 16mm, 10mm, 10mm, 19mm, 7mm and 18mm. I changed to a black dot on the bottom of the red circle on this target as an aiming point so dont confuse it with the bulllet holes, Bolt lift with the faster CCI was slightly stiffer.

Another range session at 100m is necessary to see what the potential is, but at this stage Im pretty happy.

Thanks for that Bill,
There's a Swedish (I think) bloke at Rimfirecentral who did a bit of a spiel about his:
https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/s ... 1x&page=14

Looks like it's a tidy little unit.
I finally recieved my licence application back and I've put my paperwork in to register for the TAFE course which has fallen on the 24th of November so it's slowly getting there which is fine, maybe the 22LR will be out by the time it's all sorted.

Well I finally got my licence paid for and all that jazz. Hopefully get down to Adelaide next week and shoulder a few. On my list are the T1X, CZ 455 American and the LA101.

Had the pleasure of shooting a 452 American which was paired with a VX Freedom 4-12x40 which was nice to look through so I'll probably pair whatever I buy with one of them i guess.

So, yesterday one of our local shooters turned up at the range with a brand new Tikka T1X in .22 L.R. Shot 25 and 50 m benchrest on standard targets.
He shot a few one hole groups at 25m and some real nice ragged hole groups at 50m. That's straight out of the box, brand new.
I think he was using RWS rifle match ammo. ( Keeping in mind this bloke is a top shot. )
I handled it but didn't shoot it. Nice rifle, this one had a heavier profile barrel than a standard .22 sporter but not as heavy as my P94S Sako varmint. Fit and finish look good, chunky looking 10 shot mag with nice release and easy to insert. Not fiddly like some mags can be.
I think he paid @ $900 ? Certainly a quality rifle at first impression.

Probably the 20 then - the 20 feels more like a "normal" rifle. The 16 is really tiny and feels oddly small (when your used to heavier rifles), which btw will make it an awesome little farm/carry gun...

Handled, fondled, poked and prodded today. I'm very happy with it for what it's worth today. Picked up a leupold vx freedom 3-9×40 for it to start off with for a song/ package.

Still have to wait 28 days but looking forward to it ask the same.

Did you get the freedom " rimfire" version leupold? It has the parallax set at 60 yrds more accurate shooting with rimfire calibers.

Just the basic version unfortunately, looking through it in the backyard out to 50/60m is seems okay at this stage but I won't know until I get it on the rifle and start trying to hit some targets.
If it doesn't tickle my fancy I'll grab something with parallax adjustment for this rifle. It only set me back $300 so I figure it's not a bad investment :unknown:

Well I finally got a day off to get down and pick up the Rifle. After running a few errands I finally got around to mounting the scope with the rings I picked based on my natural cheek position when I first shouldered the rifle about a month ago. Now that I've spent an hour on and off picking it up and feeling how it comes up to the eye I think I'm still a few mm too high, I find myself just creeping up a bit to get a clear picture so I'm gonna hunt around for some lower rings.

All up happy with it out of the box and I ran a few rounds through it just to see how it cycled and ran through the mag fine several times, hopefully I'll get out over the weekend and sight it in/get a few rounds through it.
Average pic of the rifle but I was in a bit of a hurry to put it away and get to the shops.

Also picked up all the .22LR ammo and a box of 22Long bullets which the bloke reckons are nice and quiet for close range rabbits.... :unknown:
I'm looking at getting some RWS and some of the SK varieties as I've heard the T1X's like them. We'll wait and see!

Those rings do look quite high mate. I tend to try and get away with the lowest rings possible to mount the optic. To me it makes sense to get the line of sight as close to the barrel as possible.
