Yes I’m pretty keen to hear about them and better still, see one. I am in the market for a new .22LR.

A few more reviews of the Ruger on Rimfirecentral but I still haven't seen anything from Tikka owners yet.

In general how do people think they shape up...?

It looks like it's more than capable. Some are seeing sub-MoA straight out of the box.

So there poses the question.
Does one wait and see what they’re like or go and buy a Lithgow LA101?

The LA101 are proven excellent rifles. Despite a few production hiccups and the occasional dud. Issues have by and large been ironed out now.

Tikka has big shoes to fill to surpass the Lithgow. At its current price point the Tikka would do well to be equal in performance.

Had the Lithgow and it could shoot good to 50mtr but was over the loading/feeding issues, I dont think Tikka would be average it should be great, and I have others and that means interchangeability.

Are there other Tikka rimfires that this is likely to have interchangeability with?

The Tikka rimfire use the same stock as the centre fire models. So if you have other Tikka T3 stocks or Chassis systems they are interchangeable.

I had a lithgow 101 with those same feeding and ejecting issues so traded it in on an Anschutz now it just feeds and ejects perfectly, I too am waiting to see just how good these tx1's are. even though they have a plastic mag I bet they feed. as said before they have a full size interchangeable stock, plus that action looks stiffer than an anschutz 54 !!!!

The Anschutz 54 action is actually not that stiff. I had one that I bought second hand that had a bubbered bedding job and if the action screws were tightened down too much. It caused problems as in the safety didn't work properly the bolt had an issue I cant remember exactly what. once I determined what it was it went back ASAP couldn't get it out the door quick enough. It didn't shoot that great either, probably why it got butchered trying to get it to shoot better.

Have another one now and it works and shoots flawlessly.

Doesn't offend me Chronos, I didn't design it.
I must admit the vertical pistol grip doesn't get my juices flowing either, but the specs look good and after watching a video of testing in the US @ 1 mile, I could learn to live with it.

Was passing through Bathurst and dropped into the lgs - they had a single t1x in 17hmr which came in only this morning. Had a good feel of it and was sadly underwhelmed tbh - they are overall a very light rifle, but in saying that, all the weight is up front. From an unsupported target shooter perspective, I must say I much prefer the heft and stock shape of my Lithgow.

Also (unlike my tikka t3) the action on this t1x was a gritty and clunky - not sure if itll be the same for the 22lr version, but it doesn’t bode well. In a nutshell, overall it feels like a cheaper rifle than the la101 (but to be fair it IS a cheaper rifle).

Just my thoughts, no insights into how it shoots of course.

I'm actually glad you posted your thoughts on this. I too like a bit of weight in a rifle and was planning on a LA101. But then the noise of the T1X got my interest and thought I might wait until it was out and the reviews started popping up, but if it's a light weight, it won't suit me. So the 101 is back on the shopping list and I can get some sleep :)

1 guy on Fox hunting Australia returned his after putting 2 mags through it. His words on the overall fit and finish of it were "the worst rifle I've ever held"

I could not find the video where a guys said that the Tikka rimfire was the worst rifle he had ever held. I cannot believe that Tikka could produce something that was even close to the lower end of rimfires. I would take these comments with more than a pinch of salt.

It wasn't a video SCJ, it was a post on Fox Hunting Australia's FB Page I made asking if anyone had pre-ordered one. He wasn't very forthcoming with any other information when pressed.
I was replying to Ozzie's post on FB this morning and he said that the fit and finish on the Tikka is nicer than his RAR but you do pay more.

Less accuracy than a Lithgow but 1kg lighter and $3-400 cheaper....

Just by watching the video it hard to tell. But the action (cycling of the bolt) didn’t appear as smooth as its centrefire cousins. The Tikka’s do feel abit plastic and cheap. But I like the triggers and usually they are very accurate.

More intrestest to see how the .22 goes.

The 17hmr doesn’t do much for me anymore. Throw in a dirty barrel, a little bit of wind. Even a blade of grass. The accuracy goes out the window. Considering the the ammo can be close to $30 per 50. I’d rather be shooting my 223.

Yeah, I'm looking at one in 22LR but I may just get a RAR Compact if the Tikka doesn't tickle my jibblits when I go down and shoulder one. I too think .17hmr is probably something I'll pass on as I'd rather get a 223. They do have their place where noise can be a factor if you want more reach than a 22LR

The one I felt was not smooth at all - it’d probably break in with time, but I was a little suprised as my tikka centerfire was buttery smooth out of the box. But to be fair Ozzie’s looked better than the one I handled.

Good to see that they shoot - despite his “meh” about accuracy, that gun is accurate in my books. It’ll probably make a fantastic little carry gun, but just a little light and flimsy for target shooting in my eyes. Oh and BTW, FWIW he said on his FB comment the trigger is “same as centerfire really” so another big tick there.
