i'm assuming that target was at 100 yards MM . but i think you broke your rifle ! there's only one hole ! i hear ya on not using your favorite hunting rifle as a plinker . i put about 600 rounds through my model 70 swede rifle doing load developement ( i tried every conceivable projectile and combo as i was new to reloading and it was fun :D ) , i don't shoot it too often now unless i'm on a hunt to preserve the barrel/accuracy . i have two other model 70's to plink/ range shoot/hunt with (222 , 243 ). they all shoulder the same and trigger pull is all about the same, so it makes jumping back and forth between rifles and calibers easy for me . i've seen a couple of 338 win mag model 70 rifles on line cheap, thinking they would be a good basis for a 264 project . i think i need another safe ......

the wins have a good magazine size, good for magnum size case's so you can load long and wins can make a very accurate rifle

I have two 6.5 Grendel’s now. I have a Howa Mini action and a cz527 MTR in 6.5 Grendel. The CZ was $1000 on special and I couldn’t resist. The MTR actually has a 25.6 inch barrel. But it actually feels quite usable.

I’m still working up loads for the CZ. But it shooting extremely well. I won’t be surprised if it ends up being the most accurate gun I own.
I also bought the 200 round Hornady American Gunner ammo for $235 for 200. I paid more for empty brass when I started reloading 6.5 Grendel.

I’m interested in 6.5 Grendel at the moment. Just wondering what ammo price and availability are like here in Aus? I’m not into hand loading at all.

Seems to be available in all the eastern state, for range work the American gunner 123gr x 200round ammo cartons is a clear winner in accuracy. I've had 5 shot groups approaching 0.5moa with nuthin but a 1.5lb trigger in my Heavy barrel howa.

Centreway have the ammo in stock, give em a ring on pricing.

I'm putting up a Sporter 6.5 Grendel Howa Mini (22inch barrel) black stock (2lb trigger) this weekend on used guns. Fired not a lot of rounds maybe 400, will have 100 piece of brass thrown in for a reloader, bases included. $575 posted

Thanks Bill.
How do you think it would perform for hunting? Nothing bigger than a kangaroo.?
We’re you not happy with the Howa?

Hey Cooper. How do you like the mini action? What barrel did you go for?

Hey shootermick, no I bought another grendel but a heavy barrel, love the round. Performance is like a 243 or 250 savage just with a lot less noise and fuss.

the Grendel is a range bitch and easy to smack the steel plates at 300 and 400m

Hey Bill, I went to my gun shop today but they only had a mini action in .223, they’re ringing me Monday with a price on a heavy barrel Grendel, they gave me a rough price anyway and when they call I reckon I’ll put the order in on a new one. I saw your add on used guns, and was wondering what model Meopta scope you’ve got on it? I’ve got a Meopta Meopro 6-18x50 on my Lithgow .223 and it’s a nice scope, but just after your opinion on something we’ll suited to the mini action in Grendel.? Thanks mate,

shootermick my go to scope has been the Meopta 4-12x50 with the BDC reticle, plenty of zoom to see holes at 200 and the holdover reticles are easy on the 400m steel plates.

I stuck a Sightron STAC 3-16x42 on the my HB Grendel and for the money I doubt you'll find a better value scope for range use.

I paid $675 plus 50 to get a Kryptek stocked HB thru Cleavers ( not sure if your local Vic shops have a hook up ??), they got it from the USA to me in under 12 days. Local distributor quoted me $975 and unavailable, probably a 4 or 5 month wait. That $250 i saved went towards the 2nd hand STAC :drinks:
