They get used to it I quite often get comments on me shooting over cows at long range and they carry on like I've shot cows  even though the projectile is 20 odd feet above them .
Good shot BTW I have a great load for the 222 and the 40gbt for foxes but they have since sped 2207 up a smidgen since I used it but it works with the 40g vmax with today's 2207 .

Cheers

Agreed Mate.
One place I shoot on, the sheep are so used to me that when I set up for the night they come and bed down around my ute.
Somehow I think they've figured out that they are safer by bedding down close.

Ok, I'll elaborate. Whilst .223 is the sensible option, for this purchase, a .22 magnum will be fine because where I shoot it's unlikely to be over 150m max - far more likely 70-90m.
Also, I want a lever action. No particular reason, though ambidextrous is nice as I'm a lefty and my wife isn't.
In the future I'll probably get a .243 for longer ranges if necessary, and that will be a good bolt action, where I can choose stocks and get all nerdy about loading and stuff. So in the meantime, I'm thinking a Henry H001 or Winchester 9422m or similar would be fun, cool, handy, etc.
