Non-toxic shot laws in Victoria.

Hi all, hope you’re well.

I am just trying to figure out the laws regarding toxic shot in Victoria. I understand you can’t use lead shot for ducks or game birds but I can’t figure out the laws regarding toxic shot for pest animals such as rabbits or foxes. For example, could I take my shotgun out into crown land targeting rabbits and foxes with lead birdshot or does that need to be steel as well?

I have my game licence for deer as well and the laws for that state you need to use slugs if you’re using a shotgun but also do not mention anything about toxic or non-toxic shot.

Thanks for you help. :friends:

I am well and thank you for asking. Likewise I also hope you are well, because you look like you should probably go on a diet.

Anyway.
Only applies to game birds to look after the waterways.

For now anyway. May change in future because some dumb Americans made a law to protect condors.
Condors are dumb as s**t and will eat anything that’s dead. Americans like to shoot each other dead with lead projectiles. Condor, being dumb as s**t, swallows the lead projectile blah blah
And apparently we need to adopt this law for no reason.

You have a game licence.
