Back to the Bunnies.

Its been 5 weeks since my last sniping expedition so with the promise of good weather I headed off to a patch that I had not been to for about 3 months,this spot consists of 7 warrens spread out in an area of about 500x500 yds.
Well what a surprise, with some good rains the bunnies had been breeding with all the warrens populated with several kittens.
I shot 5 with one bunny taken from each of the warrens so as not to put a large dent in their family groups...sustainable sniping
Anyway, the first was at 232mts (254yds), the second 278mts (304yds), the third 214mts (235yds), the fourth 284mts (311yds) and finally the fifth at 240mts (262yds).
All bunnies were shot through the chest and died instantly , the last one was the most spectacular....with victim being flung several feet into the air with bits of guts and other assorted goodies launched into orbit
Yup, it was a good day with plenty more targets for next time....

Mines pretty simple, cut em up into pieces (KFC Style) soak em in water and vinegar over night, drain em the soak em in milk until ready to cook, coat em in egg then seasoned flour, brown em in some oil for a bit until a bit of colour is on em, then I cook them in the oven in a cast iron pot with onions, mushies and a steak dianne sauce mix, I add a bit of cream just before they are ready to be served, usually in a hour or so (I just check em to see how tender they are and when ready I take em out and get stuck in.

They are usually meat falling off the bone type deal and are bloody beautiful to eat (very very similar to chicken and most wouldn't know the diff other than the diff meat cuts.

Your welcome mate, the vinegar and water helps take that wild rabbit flavour out of em a bit and the milk helps tenderise em a bit I believe, certainly seems to work cos they don't taste crap like a lot of rabbit dishes do and they are very very tender, just like a roast chicken, the sauce is like a gravy type thing and covers around 3/4's of em, I just cook em around 160deg from memory, like I said I just check how tender they are and when ready we get stuck in.

I also add garlic, onions, mushies, salt and pepper and as I said some cream at the end (thickened from memory) but sour cream would be fine too (may even be that) ah its good having old timers

Haven't noticed mate - but I only eat the legs and back straps type thing anyway (nothing else worth eating on em really)

The milk trick is for the real stinky stuff e.g. if you're into eating offal.

Yup, they go anywhere....that car has cost me almost 1500 bucks in the past 5 weeks, Im looking at retiring it soon.

Thanks Andrew, will be getting the 22-250 ready within the next few weeks and will use it to knock off Bugs from 400-550 yds, so hopefully will get some interesting footage,
