Whistled one up

Post by Jake » 25 Jan 2016, 4:28 pm

Went out for a whistle yesterday arvo had no luck at first stand so moved a couple hundred meters to a downed tree and took a seat and started whistling didn't hold much hope cause of the 20 cows within meters behind me butt the wind was right and within 5 minutes I noticed something sneaking along the fence line out of the long grass when he stopped to nibble on someone i turned the light on him and placed a shot with the 17 right into the boiler room and it was game over for him absolutely love whistling for foxes nothing gets the heart pumping more.

LOL, well done.
I went out Sunday morning to a new spot. Whistled one up at about 7 am but the bugger came in over my right shoulder. (I'm right handed) I spotted him at about 15 meters. Eventually he spotted me as I tried to slowly turn right to take a shot with the 223 & he bolted in over drive. So I got the usual. I have found that whistling the buggers during the day can be a challenge.

Agreed when whistling you need both a shotty and a rifle. I've been out a couple of times with a mate in the ute with a spotty I've got 17 since mid November with the .204 and .22-250. Keep up the good work mate. Are you in Vic? We have the $10 bounty here pays for ammo normally with a few foxes plus whatever else we shoot.

I find BBs work best on foxes. Reasonably solid pattern and plenty of knockdown 2s will work as well less knockdown but probably a better pattern. I use a full choke on foxes

Another thing you can do is hang them on a fence and dry them out rather than freeze them.

Sounds like ya need that shotgun mate, they keep beating ya so time to level the field abit :D My ol SB shottie is an old Boito, cost me $60 a million years ago and has been a terrific little knockabout shotgun - perfect for close quarter action on foxes and bloody brilliant on the clays and bunnies too

My old SB 12G is an old stirling that I was given about 20 yr ago. The bloke had a new mrs snd she was an anti. The U/O is a bit heavy to carry along with the 223.

Sounds like enough reason to say I'll take my shottie and there is the door! But in sure it suited you to have the gun instead.

No, the dog bounty ended mid 2015, it was one of the first executive decisions the commies (the Reds, the Labs, the Dan-danny-daniel boys) made when they came 'back' to power in VIC

Fox bounty remains........for now....

Out of interest I think the first executive decisions of these retards was to remove the alcohol(/drug?) testing on building sites.... then the CFMEU complained because they supported it

One from this morning she was busy looking at my old man on the 4 wheeler and didn't see me sneak up behind with the .22-250. Caught a 45gr HP from about 40 yards.
