God Damned #@$€%& Possums..!!!!!

Post by CrackThump » 18 May 2019, 7:14 pm

So, last night, for the first time on the scrub line, I saw a bunch of possums.. To be honest, theyve probably always been there, ive just been to busy looking down not up.. So with permission granted from Her Ownership, i proceeded to pop me some possums.

After one quick success, I moved onto my second target feeling confident and at peace with my skills, setup and situation.

Slide the bolt, sight picture aquired, safety off, and squeeeeze...

Then THIS happened and I knew instantly that (a) God hates me and (b) possums are a$$hats.

a quick clean headshot caused instant death and I guess all of the little fellers muscles spasmed causing his tail to lock around the branch and.... he just , hung there..!!!

I mean, thats not right.. thats NOT how its meant to work. right.??

While Im standing there, rifle still half raised, the spotlight beam starts to shake and wobble, I look over to the Pajero and see "Her Ownership" giggling like a mad woman because Id apparently just started spewing randon disjointed words like OI.... GRAVITY... A$$HOLE.. BA$TURD... FALL.. WRONG....NOT FAIR..

I looked at her with confusion, betrayal and grief and said "But he's not playing fair.. tell him to fall down like he's meant to"

Apparently that can happen sometimes, or so "Her Ownership" tells me... bloody hell woman, you could have warned me.. pffttt

So to all you gentleman hunters out there, with all the love in my heart.. Y'all coulda warned me..!!!!! lol

Bloody possums.!

May be trapped, and released (relocated).
Otherwise, totally protected under the Wildlife Act 1975. Possible fine of up to ~$8k.
Except, in some circumstances as has been pointed out, in Tassie.

When I applied for my crop protect permit, I had to fill out approximately the numbers of take for which animals - when it came to possum - I put 0 and they called me up and said we’ve changed that to 200...

A guy at my work clears a cherry farm of possums probably once a month - he tells me at least 40-50 each month.
We have zero predators down here - and to my knowledge, do have the wild cat / dog issue that you mainlanders enjoy...

N.Z. open season on possums there - introduced species, along with stoats, ferrets etc.

I was under the impression that they were classified as "introduced" species in the Apple Isl. too

C-T, you missed the point; it's a bonus point round:-

Now you have to shoot the tail where it goes over the branch to make it fall.

Time fer some sharpshooting'
